The Reykjavík International Literary Festival (April 24-27th, 2019)
On the occasion of the Reykjavik International Literary Festival, the biggest literary event in Iceland, the Embassy of Japan and Reykjavik city invited a prominent author, Ms. Yoko Tawada, to the event. The Reykjavik International Literary Festival, the bilateral event since 1985, marks the 14th this year. It is known as one of the most important literary festivals in Europe and many of book-loving Icelandars look forward to this. Ms. Tawada actively participated in programs such as Readings in which she read part of her book aloud in Japanese and Authors on Stage in which she answered various questions related to her creative activities. Ms. Tawada received attentive listening from the participants.
Additionally, Minister of Education, Science and Culture, H.E.Ms. Lilja Alfreðsdóttir and the Mayor of Reykjavik City, Mr. Dagur B. Eggertsson made opening speeches.
