Sencha-do the Japanese Tea Ceremony and Wagashi Workshop
2024/10/10

On Thursday, October 10th, the Embassy held workshops on sencha green tea and wagashi, a kind of traditional Japanese sweet.
The participants learned about the history of sencha and the manners for serving it from the Lecturer, Mr. Sigmundur Páll Freysteinsson, who studied in Kyoto on a Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship, while also enjoying the different flavors of the three types of teas, which can vary depending on the region, variety, and production method.
Additionally, they had the opportunity to learn about wagashi from the Ambassador’s chef, and to gain a taste of Japanese culture through sencha and wagashi.
