On July 29, the Embassy of Japan in Iceland and Harpa Concert Hall jointly hosted a free concert featuring the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Training Squadron Band and the taiko drumming group Shōzui Taiko.

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Training Squadron contributes not only to the professional development of junior officers through its overseas training voyages, but also to the promotion of friendship and goodwill with countries around the world. During this year's voyage, the Squadron made its first-ever port call in Reykjavík, Iceland, and the concert was organized to mark this occasion.

The concert was held with the aim of further deepening the friendly relations between Japan and Iceland through music and attracted a large audience. The program featured a variety of pieces, including music from Super Mario and Studio Ghibli films, as well as other Japan-related and internationally beloved works. The concert also included a dynamic taiko drumming performance, providing attendees with an opportunity to experience the unique appeal of Japanese musical culture.

The event was well attended throughout and provided a valuable opportunity to deepen understanding of Japan through music and promote exchanges between Japan and Iceland.
