Japanese Weekend at Þingeyri

 
 

Ambassador Kitagawa attended “Japanese Weekend“ held in Þingeyri, a small town situated in the Westfjords. This event was initiated by a group of local residents and specialists who have been working on the project to revitalise Þingeyri. Representatives from the Japanese NPO Green Valley Kamiyama were invited to share their successful experiences of revitalisation project at the workshop, which was a great success attended by many visitors, including the mayor of Ísafjörður, rector of the university of Ísafjörður, local TV reporters and many more. Other cultural exchange programmes such as an art exhibition by a Japanese artist, origami and calligraphy workshops were also conducted during the event.
