Visit to a former coast guard vessel “Óðinn”
2022/4/7

On Thursday, April 7, Ambassador Suzuki visited a decommissioned offshore patrol vessel formerly operated by the Icelandic Coast Guard, Óðinn, anchored as a museum ship in Reykjavík harbor.
A member of the ship‘s preservation group, “Hollvinir varðskipsins Óðinn” participated in various support activities for recovery following the Great East Japan Earthquake. The group developed close friendship with a shipbuilding company “Mirai Ships Inc.” in Kesen-numa, Miyagi, Japan and a new mast manufactured by the company was presented to Óðinn last summer. On Fishermen's Day this year, June 11, a presentation ceremony will be held for the new mast.
