Japan Festival
2023/1/28
On January 28, the Embassy of Japan in Iceland and University of Iceland co-hosted the 19th Japan Festival at Veröld – hús Vigdísar, a commemorative event that marked the resumption of the face-to-face festival after two years.
A total of over 1,000 people visited the festival, and many were able to experience various aspects of Japanese culture, including martial arts, Go, anime, manga, and calligraphy.
As a highlight of the festival, we invited Ms. Yuzu Natsumi, a Japanese shamisen player based in New York, to give a live concert, and she was able to introduce the charm of traditional Japanese music to many people.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Suzuki expressed his wish to convey the charm of Japan to the people of Iceland through various programs such as live performances of traditional Japanese music, which is rarely seen in Iceland.
