Meeting with Rector of Akureyri University

On April 29, Ambassador Takewaka visited Akureyri University and met with Rector, Dr. Áslaug Ásgeirsdóttir to discuss research exchanges between Japan and Iceland, particularly in the Arctic area.
Founded in 1987, the university is located in Akureyri, the largest city in northern Iceland. It is a comprehensive university which actively utilizes its Polar Law Program in order to promote international human resource making and exchange. Akureyri has been made as a major Arctic Hub equipped with university, research institution and secretariat of Arctic-related organizations.
