2025/8/14

On 12 August, Ambassador Takewaka visited the Hellisheidi geothermal power plant operated by ON Power, the Carbfix site within the power station and the nearby Climeworks plant, Mammoth. ON Power operates geothermal power plants in Hettlisheidi and Neshabetrir, which are responsible for 60% of urban hot water supply. Carbfix is implementing a project to dissolve the carbon released from the plants in water, inject it into basalt and store it underground. The project has attracted worldwide attention against the backdrop of the effects of global warming, including rising sea temperatures, melting glaciers and disasters around the world, and the company is also working with various universities and research institutes.

Climeworks operates a CO2 capture and storage plant, Mammoth, where carbon capture is carried out by 72 containers equipped with fans.
