On May 13, Ambassador Takewaka attended the Watanabe Trust Fund Scholarship Award Ceremony. This year, a total of 50 recipients in Japan and Iceland were awarded scholarships. The ceremony featured a video message from Mr. Toshizo Watanabe, and remarks were delivered by former Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde.
The Watanabe Trust Fund Scholarship was established in 2008, and this year marks the 15th anniversary since the first scholarships were awarded in 2011. From 2011 to 2025, the total number of scholarship recipients has reached 241.
