From Ambassador (New Residence)

With the arrival of July, we have begun activities of the New Residence at Vesturbrún.
This residence is also blessed with abundant nature. Surrounded by greenery, I often see people walking their dogs and cats wandering, and birds roam freely without fear of being close to people.
On July 14th, we raised the national flag at the new residence. Even in the rain, the Japanese flag stood proudly, and it was a solemn moment. On that day, Ambassador of Iceland to Japan, Hreinn Pálsson, came to embrace the start of activities at the new residence. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the opening of the embassies in both Reykjavik and Tokyo in 2001.
As you can imagine, the renovation work of the residence is not completely finished.
One can often say Þetta reddast. I heard from several Icelanders that the important thing is to have the mindset that "where there's a will, there's a way." In order to make improvement, the chef and residence staff are working day-by-day.
It is our desire that the new residence will be well-cherished as a familiar place of good neighborhood. To that end, I wish to seek support and opinions from neighbors as well as all of you.
We will gradually enlarge our activities in the months to come, and we appreciate your continued support.
